To meet the increased need for information regarding resources and local efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene, we have created this page with easy access to information from local governments, agencies, and other entities related to hurricane recovery and support. We will continue to update this page with reliable and accurate information as this situation continues.

TELEPHONE SUPPORT

211 Resource Line:

  • 211 is a resource line supported by United Way of Greenville County for people in immediate need of community resources like food and shelter. United Way is encouraging members of the public to utilize 211 by simply calling 2-1-1 and stating their needs to the operator. United Way Worldwide is working to increase the normal capacity of 211 to accommodate those impacted by Tropical Storm Helene.

National Disaster Help Desk:

  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation activates the National Disaster Help Desk to support disaster-impacted communities and their businesses. They support (not supplant) existing systems and communications between chambers, businesses, non-profits, local/state/federal governments and fill gaps when needed.
  • The Disaster Help Desk can be reached at:

  • The Help Desk will provide coordination of information among businesses, local chambers of commerce, nonprofits, government, and disaster recovery specialists. The purpose is to support and enhance existing systems, and facilitate information sharing where there are gaps.
  • You should call if:
    • You want information about what to do and/or recovery best practices.
    • You are in the impact area and want help navigating FEMA, SBA, and other assistance programs.
    • You are in the impact area and are not sure who to call for a particular need or assistance.
    • You want to support the recovery process and connect with chambers or businesses in the impacted area.

Chamber Meeting Space & Charging Available This Week

  • Our office is up and running for regular hours this week, with space available for chamber members who need a quick temporary office space with hot coffee, wifi, and outlets for charging devices. Our boardroom is available as a co-working space, and our extra office is available for private meetings and calls. Simply call ahead to let us know you're coming and to confirm availability.

Ashe County Chamber

  • From Kitty Honeycutt: We, the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce, are collecting funds to help with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts following the catastrophic damage here in our beloved home, Ashe County. We are grateful for your past visits during better times and look forward to that time again. However, now we covet your prayers and support. 100% of donations through the Ashe Advantage Project 501c3 will go to support local community needs and recovery. Avery County Chamber – Banner Elk, NC

  • Just heard from Robin Morgan who is now in Huntersville for service…our greatest need will be 10 days from now, and we are going to need the following:
  • Feminine products
  • Diapers
  • Baby food
  • Animal food
  • Clothes
  • They lost their Ingles and don’t know when it’ll be back up. Please call Robin on her cell phone at 704-560-5272 if you can help as you’ll need to coordinate with her on how to get the items into her area. Drop off locations are changing daily.

 

Blowing Rock Chamber

  • From Charles Hardin: Since we are in pretty good shape here in Blowing Rock, we are acting as a communications resource center for people who are seeking opportunities to help those who have lost everything. The Town has dispatched much of our public works employees and equipment to other areas of the County. The Chamber is connecting outside the area people with the needs. We are also trying to keep abreast of donation points for getting supplies, equipment and financial contributions to the right locations. We are coordinating with Boone Chamber since they are physically on the ground at the distribution areas. As you may know, Samaritan’s Purse’s world headquarters is right here, and they do disaster recovery all the time across the country. Now, they are helping their own.

 

Boone Area Chamber

  • The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation is accepting donations to help with community and business relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene’s impact on the High Country. Gifts can be made at this link and the Chamber will distribute funds locally to businesses and community efforts as needs are further assessed throughout Watauga County over the days and weeks ahead: https://www.boonechamber.com/foundation
  • Physical supplies can be delivered to The Summit Pickleball at 178 Industrial Park Drive in Boone. They can take any type of vehicle there, including tractor trailers.

 

Greenville Chamber of Commerce

  • It is my understanding, now that we have been declared a Federal disaster area, families losing groceries to spoilage due to power outages can place a request to FEMA to get up to $750 in reimbursement to help alleviate the drain on the family pocketbook. You can call 1-800-621-3362 and state exactly “I HAVE A SERIOUS FOOD NEED” – FEMA FOOD ALLOWANCE. If you choose to use the website, visit https://www.disasterassistance.gov/.

Kernersville Chamber

  • From Chris Comer: From our VFW and veteran owned businesses working with Ted Budds office: Heading out this morning with. 53’ semi packed with immediate need supplies, 1000 gallons of fuel for support. We have a fully equipped 44ft Medical trailer and truck including an emergency physician. They are also bringing heavy equipment.

 

McDowell Chamber

  • From Kim Effler: Interested in volunteering? Call 828-559-9731 to see how you can help. Want to donate supplies? They can be taken to the Universal Advanced Manufacturing Center at 634 College Dr. Marion, NC 28752 from 8am-6pm. Most critical need: bottled water, diapers/wipes, non-perishables.

 

Randleman Chamber

  • The Randleman Chamber has confirmed a tractor & trailer from our local furniture manufacturer to be loaded with supplies and sent to our friends in the NC Mountains, working through Samaritans Purse. If there are specific needs, please let us know at 336-495-1100 or chamber43@northstate.net. We will also have a drop off site at our 36 NASCAR Day Festival in Randleman on October 5 from 9am to 6pm.
